Frenchy Cannoli Teaches Cannabis History

Frenchy Cannoli has spent over 40 years traversing the globe – learning the craft that goes into creating quality cannabis from the local and tribal artisans who have been practicing their art for generations. This includes learning how to turn cannabis resin into premium hashish. Now a Master Hashishin in his own right, Frenchy dedicates his time to producing the highest quality hashes and serving as a mentor for the next generation of hash makers.

Frenchy Cannoli brings a deep understanding and appreciation for the traditional production techniques he has learned and continues to practice. These techniques are virtually unseen in today’s cannabis market – offering a taste of the rich cannabis history of which we belong. It’s no wonder his trained eye and palate make him highly sought after as a judge at prestigious cannabis competitions worldwide.

With In Search of the Origins of Hash, Master Hashishin Frenchy Cannoli kicks off Cannabis History by exploring the origins of the cannabis plant, it’s earliest uses, and its movement through the ancient world. Frenchy then takes us on a deep dive into the origins of hashish, including the various methods of resin collection and hash production, by region.

In his course on Cannabis Botany, Frenchy focuses on the complexities of trichomes. In this course, he will explain the differences between glandular and non-glandular trichomes and explain how to determine the quality and maturity of the trichomes. In his section on Assessing Flowers and Concentrates, Frenchy concludes his lectures by listing and explaining the “origins of quality.”

A Conversation with Frenchy Cannoli

Why did you join the Ganjier Council? Why do you think the Ganjier is important?

We need to eradicate misinformation that is rampant in the cannabis community and industry. The Ganjier Council members offer a solution. We have created a reliable source of information based on the knowledge and experience of respected members of the cannabis community. I believe in the work we have done because the sum of the council knowledge is now much more than the parts.

In regards to what you specifically covered in the Ganjier curriculum, why do you think this knowledge is important for the Ganjier and the health of the cannabis industry?

I cover subjects that have shaped the person I am today as well as the course of human history and evolution – it’s a shared story. We explore the history of concentrate and how the origins of cannabis has shaped our present. We explore how the endocannabinoid system evolved to biosynthesize the unique medicinal and psychoactive compounds specific to the receptors of mammals. This is not an evolutionary coincidence, it is the very opposite – evidence of the importance of cannabis.

Why do you feel it’s important for people to understand how to assess the true quality of cannabis flower and concentrates? What benefits does this provide to the industry?

California, specifically the Emerald Triangle, has gained world recognition for the quality of its cannabis over the years. The work of the Ganjier is to quantify the different elements or dimensions of quality to set the highest standards while, at the same time, creating a meaningful and accurate evaluation tool for all.

To you, what are some of the most important nuances and elements of truly high-quality cannabis?

The most important elements of quality are aromas and flavors. The consumption of flowers or concentrate is made of separate levels of gustative discoveries – starting with the smell of what will be consumed and finishing with the flavors of what was consumed in your mouth. The experience marks the final characteristic of quality cannabis.

Why do you think it’s important to establish a common standardized language in the cannabis industry? Any specific examples that stand out to you most?

Language is the only tool available to humanity to share information within a social group and beyond. A common lexicon of cannabis terms that respects ancient cultural heritage is mandatory to the evolution of the cannabis community worldwide.

I have been vocal about the use of the word hashish and hash for all types of extracts in the US cannabis community, as there is a long history behind the word. Respect is due to these ancient cultures. They invented the “game” after all.

Enrollment for the first certified Ganjier class will open in Winter 2020. Capacity is limited. Join the interest list if you want to be among the first Ganjiers to transform the cannabis industry as we know it.
